a little paint, a lot of patience

I’m working on a bunch of new small pieces in the studio this week, getting ready for our affordable art show, held locally every year for the holidays. A friend started this show several years ago and the idea is to cover the walls of the gallery with as much artwork under $100 as possible to enable people to purchase original art for gifts as well as themselves. I’m going to hang a few of the wooden landscape pieces as well as a few new people paintings. If you’re anywhere near the CSRA next weekend stop by Artists Local 1155 and pick up a little something for yourself.

Meanwhile, I’m toying with the idea of featuring color mixing here on the old blog. I’m always experimenting with new color combinations and pushing the limits of color use and if I could get my *&& organized I’d like to do a weekly post. If I can find a WordPress App for my phone it will make posting a whole lot easier! I’m still learning the ins and outs of the new format. I’ve also got a bunch of artwork to get up in the gallery and buttons to link and on and on and on.

and on.

Here’s a recent family portrait I completed and here’s a pic of the color inspiration from a knitting workshop I saw posted on www.loopknits.com. There is so much great color work in these knit samples I could work from them for weeks. And probably will.

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. We’ve got plenty to be thankful for in our house this year. Looking forward to seeing what the next one has in store!
